Flagship series in the smartphone market that are pushing the boundaries of mobile photography are raising the bar higher every day with next-generation technologies. Digital Chat Station (DCS), one of the industry’s most reliable leak sources, has shared a crucial technical detail shedding light on the camera system of Oppo’s highly anticipated new flagship, the Oppo Find X10 Ultra. According to the leak, Oppo will not break with the tradition of the 10X periscope telephoto camera, which was a huge success in the previous generation, but this time it will radically increase the sensor size, ushering in a new era in mobile zoom technology.
The New Standard in Photography: A Massive 1/1.95-Inch Sensor
The exclusive leak shared by DCS, labeled “NPI——50Mp 1/1.95”± 10X,” reveals the device’s camera prototype in its new production phase (NPI). The previous-generation Find X9 Ultra used the Samsung ISOCELL JN5 sensor, which featured a 50-megapixel resolution and a 1/2.76-inch sensor size in its 10X periscope telephoto setup. The next-generation Find X10 Ultra, meanwhile, maintains a resolution of 50 megapixels while significantly increasing the sensor size to 1/1.95 inches. This significant increase in sensor size brings two critical advantages to mobile photography:
- Greater Light Capture: The physically expanded surface area allows the sensor to capture much more light, minimizing noise in nighttime shots and low-light environments.
- Higher Detail and Dynamic Range: Photos will retain their sharpness even during 10X zooms from long distances, and details in overly bright or shadowed areas will be rendered much more balanced.
The 10X Optical Zoom Tradition Continues to Strengthen
Oppo had already earned top marks from both users and tech editors for the superior 10X optical zoom performance it offered in the Find X9 Ultra model. It is noted that the Find X10 Ultra will continue this successful tradition, but thanks to its much more powerful hardware, it will deliver DSLR-like sharpness when zooming in on distant objects. The loss of image quality and digital blurring typically experienced at high zoom levels may become a thing of the past with this large 1/1.95-inch sensor.
Optical zoom competition is heating up in the smartphone market
With these advanced telephoto capabilities, the Oppo Find X10 Ultra aims to be more than just a smartphone, but a professional optical tool you can carry in your pocket. For users who prioritize mobile photography and telephoto lenses in particular the Find X10 Ultra is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated and trend-setting flagship models on the market. The device’s other hardware specifications, set to be leaked in the coming period, are already generating significant buzz.
